I move because I believe our bodies were meant to move. I consider myself blessed to be physically able and mentally willing to stay fit. I have come to realize that keeping active is not only a very important component of our physical health but our mental health. I also believe that our bodily age is just a number, it should not ever stop a person from moving.

My mother lost a horrible battle with cancer in the 70’s. In those days, doctors scrambled to treat this disease, but still most times, patients died. My mother underwent very radical treatments and experienced serious pain and physical changes I will never forget. When she passed, I was 22 and my children were 2 years and 6 months old. They never got the chance to know her.

Years later, when I was about 40 and facing my own serious life and career changes, a very wise woman told me something that would change my life: Just because there is a medical history in your family, doesn’t mean you have to carry on that tradition.

It made such sense to me, and I vowed at that moment to do everything I could to take care of my body so that I could be around to enjoy time with my own grandchildren. Cycling became a very important part of my life.

I completed the MS150 bike tour ( Miami to Key Largo and back in 2 days) 3 yrs. in a row and in 2008 I rode the coast of Maine, including a 3.5-mile climb up Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park.

As I became fit, I developed new career goals. I went back to school, become a massage therapist, obtained an AS degree in Advanced Massage Therapy, studied the lymphatic (immune) system and became certified as a Holistic Manual Lymph Drainage Practitioner.

Today I enjoy my work and family back home in the QC, cycling along the river, hiking and camping, and most importantly, sharing the fun of the outdoors and making memories with my grandchildren.
