What We Stand For

The Mississippi Valley Surgery Center (MVSC) and its network of practices comprise the Mississippi Valley Network. Most of our physicians and surgeons are fellowship trained and employ the latest, minimally invasive procedures that allow for faster and economical recovery.  But in addition to our interest in advanced surgical techniques and continuous training, all network members share some common values when it comes to the relationship between healthcare provider and patient.

Care
Patients are treated in a setting that helps protect them from infections; encourages movement soon after the procedure; and commits staff resources for more attentive bedside care – allowing more flexibility for family involvement any time day or night.

Faster Recovery
The Mississippi Valley Health Network and the Mississippi Valley Surgery Center perform many procedures and surgeries that do not require hospitalization. The goal for each patient is for a swift recovery and a quick return to the important things in life. We employ minimally invasive techniques.

Endoscopic surgeries are performed instead of the standard “open surgeries” which involve larger incisions, greater risks for infection, and scarring.

Economical Value
The cost of healthcare is going up. Outpatient treatment at the MVSC is often less expensive than hospitalization. Patients are encouraged to be mobile as soon as possible, become self-sufficient, and recover at home, thereby avoiding the cost of an expensive hospital stay.

Partnership
The Network’s philosophy is to partner with patients, physicians, families, employers, and the Mississippi Surgery Center to deliver healthcare respectful of time and circumstances and which improves healthcare delivery in eastern Iowa and western Illinois.
