Get in on the fun Thanksgiving morning and take part in the Scott County Family Y’s Turkey Trot. The event begins and ends at the Davenport Family YMCA, 606 W. 2nd St., Davenport. A family-friendly 1-mile run/walk will start at 8:30 a.m. The 5-mile run/walk begins at 9 a.m. Runners and walkers of all abilities are encouraged to attend, and can bring strollers and dogs on leashes.
New this year is a family fun zone, with trained child watch staff to baby-sit, as well as a two-person relay. Registrants can save $5 by signing up before Sunday. Although race day registration is accepted, T-shirts are only guaranteed to those who sign up ahead of time at any YMCA branch or online at ScottCountyFamilyY.org.
Twenty-six years ago, Klipsch started the Turkey Trot as a way to bring children, adults and families together to support the YMCA mission.
The event has become a Thanksgiving tradition. Sponsored by
McCarthy-Bush, the Trot has raised more than half a million dollars for scholarships at the Y. Nearly 50,000 people have run, walked, strolled and trotted through downtown Davenport for the cause.
